TNHSRA is a competitive arena of young men and women, producing state and national champions on an annual basis. Our schedule runs from September to June of each year with top competitors qualifying for the National High School Finals Rodeo in July.
The Tennessee Youth Rodeo Association is an organization of youth up to 8th grade, which also hosts a Jr High Division of the TNHSRA which gives 5th-8th graders the opportunity to earn points to compete at the National level! These girls and guys compete in most of the events the high school competitors do with only a few differences. (Click here to learn more about our Jr High Division.)
Our youth are our future, thus we take pride in being a family-driven organization. If you are interested in high school rodeo, give us a try!
Tennessee High School Rodeo events are for contestants in the 9th thru 12th grade. Students can join and compete whether they go to a public, private high school or are home schooled or whether they live in Tennessee or not. Girls compete in barrels, pole bending, breakaway roping, team roping and goat tying. Guys compete in bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc, team roping, tiedown calf roping and steer wrestling. Points are earned for top 10 in each event each rodeo which accumulate throughout the year to qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo in July.
TNHSRA as well as NHSRA offers many opportunities for service and leadership as well as prizes and scholarships. Not only does the National Finals have a huge payout , NHSRA has many scholarship opportunities available every year to all contestants, including National Merit Scholarship winners, Student Athlete of the Year, top event leaders in each go as well as the short go. Locally, TNHSRA provides senior scholarship opportunities like this year's Alan Jenson Memorial Roping Scholarship and the Ashley Brooks Rodeo Scholarship, as well as several other scholarships provided to us by NHSRA. There are also leadership roles to be filled such as student event directors, student officers, state queen, as well as all of these roles on the national level as well. We are also honored to give our seniors a personalized Bible each year.
